How much of my treatment costs can be covered?
Annual limit options include RM1.5 million, RM2 million or RM3 million, depending on the chosen rider and plan. The limit resets in the next certificate year. Options with no lifetime limit allow cover to continue while the certificate remains active, subject to annual limits and covered benefits.
What hospital room am I entitled to?
Room entitlement options include RM150, RM200, RM250 or RM400 a day. We help match your comfort, preferred hospital and affordable contribution. If you choose a room above your entitlement, check the additional payment and applicable terms. Room types depend on hospital rates and availability.
Deductible: how much do I pay?
A deductible is a fixed amount you pay out of pocket towards an eligible treatment bill.
Example: RM500 per certificate year.
Once RM500 has been met, the same deductible is not charged again in that certificate year for the relevant benefits.
Since 1 September 2024, BNM has required operators to offer plans with cost sharing, including deductibles, to support affordability and help manage medical cost inflation.
Amounts, exemptions and other payments depend on the plan. Contributions may be revised under the applicable terms.
When can I use my protection?
Guidance for the medical riders discussed here, counted from the risk commencement date in the certificate:
- Accidents — no waiting period. Injuries after cover begins, such as a broken arm from a fall, may be considered under the benefits. There is no need to wait 24 hours.
- 30 days — general illnesses. For example, dengue requiring hospital admission, subject to claim eligibility.
- 120 days — specified illnesses. Examples include hypertension, kidney stones, hernia or tumours. These are specified illnesses listed in the certificate, not a term for all critical illnesses.
Pre-existing conditions and exclusions still apply. Completing the waiting period does not mean all illnesses or treatments are covered.
What does the two-year period mean?
During the first two years, the operator may check the accuracy of application information when assessing a claim, such as your health history before cover began. This is not a two-year waiting period to use your medical card. Disclose information fully; certificate terms and exclusions still apply.
Before & after hospitalisation
Check how many days of consultations, tests and follow-up treatment can be claimed. Cancer treatment and dialysis usually have specific provisions.
Minimum & maximum entry age
Minimum: babies aged 14 days.
Maximum: up to age 70 next birthday for certain i-Medi Evolusi and i-Medi Signature options.
The actual limit depends on the rider, coverage term and deductible. Some options have entry limits of 15, 50 or 60. Entry age means age when applying, not when cover ends. Eligibility is subject to health assessment.
Until what age am I covered?
Coverage options run to age 70 or 80. For children, there is also an option to age 25 with extension facilities to age 80, then up to age 100, subject to the chosen option and extension terms. The certificate must remain active and required contributions must continue. These ages refer to age next birthday.
Will my contribution stay the same or increase?
The plans we offer have fixed scheduled contributions, including medical plans. We help you choose a contribution that suits your budget and long-term plans.
For medical plans, contributions may change if medical repricing occurs, depending on prevailing circumstances. If this happens, we will help review your options and guide you based on your needs and affordability.
